The consultation

What does an orthopaedic consultation involve?

Mr Oni will ask about your symptoms, how they affect your life and what you’ve already tried. He’ll examine your hip or knee and look at any X-rays or scans you have.

He’ll then explain what he thinks is going on and talk you through your options. These may include exercise, weight management, injections or other treatment here at Vale, or, if it’s likely to help, surgery.

A second opinion: if you’ve been told you need a hip or knee replacement and want to talk it through, or want to know whether there’s anything else worth trying first, a consultation can help you decide.
